Hello everyone!

I’m doing an Avon Fundraiser for the Hornell Area Humane Society, which is a no-kill shelter (my favorite kind of shelter).  They do wonderful work for us here in Steuben County, New York, but could use more money to cover operating costs.  Lately they have had a LOT of kittens dropped off and could use a financial assist!

Please consider shopping in my eStore and help us to raise funds for a great cause.  ALL sales in my estore between now and July 10, 2016 will count towards the fundraiser.  If we reach our modest goal of $1500 I will be able to donate 30% of the sales total to HAHS.

There are so many inexpensive things that you can buy on Avon – especially Skin So Soft Bug Guard (perfect for this time of year!), Anew skin products, clothing, jewelry, housewares and more!  Avon has several brochures to shop from, and every little bit helps.

Please shop online here:  Shop for the HAHS Avon Fundraiser

Blurb
Explosions, body parts, and black magic are all part of Abby Collins’ typical day. As the top Paranormal Investigation Bureau agent, she only gets the best cases, but when the Cult of Ra comes to play she might in be over her head. Finding a murderer while up against a hex, an overprotective coven, and a stubborn werewolf reminds her that nothing in the paranormal world is easy. As the death toll rises and a decades old crime, linked to Abby, is uncovered, disturbing information is brought to light. Abby must unlock an ancient language steeped in black magic to uncover the truth before the murderer comes for her.

The Good Woof – My Latest Book

Good Woof Book rolling pin cookies 500x433 2While it may have seemed like I fell off the edge of the earth, I didn’t.  I was working on my latest non-fiction book for my favorite animal shelter, the Hornell Area Humane Society (a no-kill shelter).  Each year they have a fundraiser called the Cause 4 Paws.  I try to come up with a new book for them each year.

The Cause 4 Paws event is this Saturday – June 4 from 10am to 2pm at Shawmut Park.

My latest book is called The Good Woof – Easy Dog Treat Recipes You Can Make at Home.  I was SO relieved when the UPS driver delivered the books today – with just 1 day to spare!

My daughter and I have been baking dog treats all day, and we’ll be making more tomorrow for the event.  It is well worth the effort, however, for the dog lovers at this year’s event.  An added bonus – it is supposed to be sunny and warm!

I’m still working on another mystery and hope to have either an agent or I will self-publish the book by the end of the year.  It has been too long since I published a mystery/thriller.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck around long enough to find out that yes, I am still writing.

My New Website

Hello everyone!  I would like to invite all of my followers to my new digs:

Charlotte Gerber’s Author Website

I’ve been on WordPress for many years, but I’ve decided to create a new website that more easily integrates everything that I do – blogging, giveaways, a newsletter and my bookstore.  My new site will focus on ‘the writer’s life’ and my own writing only.

I will maintain my blog on WP for as long as possible because of the many book reviews that I have done in the past.  I know how hard it is to get book reviews when you’re an indie author!  Rest assured that for every review I posted here in the past, there are replicas of them on GoodReads, Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

I would like to keep in touch through my new newsletter, which will be published once or twice per month.  I will not buy, sell or share any information from my followers, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

You can sign up for the newsletter here:  Charlotte Gerber’s Newsletter

You may also follow (and DM me) on Twitter:  @CatsPajamasNote

Facebook Manipulating Posts – Again?

facebook iconIn response to the story that broke about Facebook curators censoring military, religious and conservative posts, I wrote this on FB this morning:

After the story broke about Facebook censoring posts, I have to re-think keeping my FB account. I had noticed a number of posts that I had shared simply disappearing, especially if they had a military or conservative slant. As a former journalist, and a patriotic American, I find this kind of behavior unacceptable.

I have enjoyed interacting with my friends and family on this site, but my continued use of it implies an endorsement of the curator’s behavior, as well as FB management.

In light of this information, as well as their past acknowledgement of manipulating feed posts for a study they did a year ago, I think it is time for me to focus my activities on other social media sites.

In my opinion, either Facebook doesn’t care about people with differing opinions leaving their site, or they are so arrogant they can’t see the forest for the trees.

For readers who were unaware, Facebook admitted to manipulating feeds over a year ago for a study they were doing.  Readers were either overwhelmed with negative news or positive news in their feeds.  Their timing of the study was horrible – the holiday season.  I wonder how many people with depression were affected by this poorly designed and executed study. Facebook is operating as if people cannot function without it, and that it doesn’t matter how badly they treat their users.

As with all people and entities with a God Complex, eventually they will fall, and fall hard.  People don’t like being manipulated, no matter what their stripe is.
